Dipavali

Dipavali, the festival of lights, an evening of lamps. They are lit in memory of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile: the townspeople lit his way home.

Rows of lamps are lit in the temple, there is kirtan and sweets are handed round. Come after dark — otherwise the whole point is lost.
