Srila Prabhupada's Disappearance Day

Srila Prabhupada's disappearance day. He left his body in Vrindavana in 1977, having in eleven years founded more than a hundred temples and translated dozens of volumes.

On this day his books are read, stories about him are told, and flowers are offered to him. The fast is kept until noon. It is a quiet day but not a sad one: in the tradition a teacher's departure is not a parting.
