Evening kirtan
One more kirtan in the evening, in the temple room. Nobody knows in advance what it will turn into: sometimes calm and slow, sometimes loud enough to rattle the windows — mridangas have been torn through more than once.
You may come and go at any point; that is not considered impolite.
What is sung
The Hare Krishna maha-mantra is sung: the leader gives a line, everyone repeats it. The words are always the same:
Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare
