Vamana Dvadasi

The appearance day of Vamana, the Lord in the form of a brahmana boy. He asked King Bali for just three paces of land, then covered the whole universe in two.

The point of the story is not that the king was outwitted: Bali gave away everything he had and received more than he could have asked for. In the temple there is worship and a feast; the fast is kept until noon.
